Topics that focus on: increasing self-confidence, raising awareness of existing skills, identifying aptitudes and interests, determining a career goal, exploring industry trends, acquiring the tools to get a job, becoming adept at interviews, learning ways to succeed when hired and maintaining motivation during the job search.
Program content is directed toward the individual needs of a person with a disability that is seeking a job.
1. Career Decision Making
Interest Aptitudes and Decision-Making Goal: A realistic and possible employment goal
2. Communicating with Confidence
Self-Esteem and Confidence Building Goal: Increase self-esteem, confidence and ability to communicate
3. Job Search Tools
Resumes, Cover Letters, Contact Cards, Application Forms… Goal: Gaining the tools and knowledge to participate in job search
4. Interview Skills
Presentation, Communication and Interview Techniques Goal: Ability to complete an interview independently with confidence
5. Success at Work Culture
Expectations and Success Factors at work. Goal: Demonstrate appropriate workplace behaviour
6. PEP Rally
Job Search Support Group Goal: To stay on track and be motivated with the job search plan
7. Life Skills Express
Goal: To acquire essential social and communication skills to achieve work readiness and enhance life skills.
